Hua Hin Pkra (Thailand)

The last fiew days i have been in Thailand Hua Hin. This is the first stop of the world cup 2010. And the single elimination in freestyle was finished today. And they started a few heats of the double elimination.
So back to
the first day of the registration. The
event site is big here I think they have made a great job building up a lot of
stuff on the beach. Loads of tents with food, massages and other stuff. All the
riders we have our own tents as well that is nice. The first 3 days they cocked
the food for the riders on the spot. That was amazing but then they started with
boxes and it’s not the same.
So before
the main event started there was an armature freestyle event for the Asians and
4 of the top winners made it in to the main event of the men’s and 2 of the women.
The
freestyle started off with good wind about 18-25 knots. And it’s always interesting
to see the first event of the year and see how much everyone has progressed. You
don’t feel too much of a different but some riders definitely have been learning
more stuff than others.
To the
competition my first heat was suppose to be against Bubman. But he decided not
to do any freestyle in the last minute and so I had a bye in my first heat. And
second heat I was up against Reno Romeu. I start off the heat good with 2
tricks on same tack going towards the beach. And on my way out I was going to
do one of my easiest tricks the one I always land more less and obviously I missed
it and crashed. After I relaunch the kite I turn back to the beach to do it
again and I land it very badly not feeling too good about it I continue and
pull off another trick. And after that I felt like I was more in the water with
my butt than over. So after the heat I was not happy at all. I was sure I lost I
just knew I did. But some people n the beach told me nahh it was close. And on
the notice board later it says that I won. Wow did I get a smile on my face
again. It just shows that even if you feel its going bad in the heat never give
up just go for it till the end.
So now I’m
up against the top5 in the world Andy Yates. I know I need to land all my
tricks and also the hard stuff to make this round. I didn’t do the heat I was
hoping for but it was ok I was still happy with it. I lost and this will put me
in the 9th place in the double elimination. So tomorrow I will be
fighting my way up and hopefully I can climb the ladder to the end!
